Here is what you need to know:
Neuromodulators are wrinkle-relaxing injections of botulinum toxin – commercially known as Botox Cosmetic, Dysport, Xeomin, or Jeuveau that treat wrinkles, frown lines, and crow's feet. They work by blocking signals from the neurons to the muscles. The injected muscle can't contract, which in turn softens wrinkles in the treated area. The timeline of these treatments is temporary, as illustrated in the chart.
Within the first two weeks of the treatment, patients are advised by their Cosmetic Injector to avoid any massage to the treated area. Massage may cause the Neuromodulators to travel to adjacent muscles causing unwanted contact with the muscles of the eye adversely resulting in eyelid "drooping". Therefore, the client must avoid treatments such as facials, massage, microblading, and microshading with in the first two weeks.
During the two - six-week period, the treated Frontalis muscle is fully relaxed and considered in the height of the treatment. During this time, clients may experience a feeling characterized as "heaviness of the brow." Additionally, the relaxed Frontalis muscle may lengthen the forehead as eyebrows lay lower than their untreated natural positioning. I do not recommend performing your permanent cosmetic brow or eyeliner enhancement during this time 2- 6 week time period.
The time to plan your PMU procedures would be either before your client receives their Neuromodulators treatment or six- eight weeks after cosmetic injections. The six-eight week time period is ideal because the medicinal effect of Botox Cosmetic, Dysport, Xeomin, or Jeuveau is realized. Yet, a slight return of muscle movement results in the naturally relaxed Frontalis muscle and better positioning of eyebrows. For more information regarding this subject, please reach out.
